Was it a mistake to go with GeekStorage?
Hello,
I advised my partener to go for Geekstorage after reading some things online, and we preferred a smaller company rather than go to someone huge, especially because we felt we'd get better support. We never intended to need it but here we are. She moved her business, including her main business email to a new website hosted on Geekstorage. There were some growing pains initially setting it up, but it worked out in the end. We were having some email issues which initially were handwaved away by customer support, and we just settled on Yahoo mails we were sending to get randomly delayed or sent to Spam. There were also some defferal issues but never came up in actual use, and some very rare issues with mails with attachements not arriving. We chalked it up as 'weirdness' and moved on.
But today we ended up in a situation where her main business email can't send OR receive emails, and customer support is slow to unresponsive, and as defensive as it was the first time around. There's most likely an error with their config server side (reverse DNS not coming to the same server), but even if it weren't, i find it very troubling to be this uninterested in solving our issue, them getting stuck in a "we don't know this IP", but it's not like i set it, or can set it myself anywhere in the zone records. If that even is or isn't the issue.
I'm thinking on just bailing on the rest of the period we have with them and just transfer over to a new hosting solution, with all the headaches that usually causes.

I am curious on the "we don't know this IP" part. Could you expand on that further ? I ask as a sudden mail not sending and receiving and them saying they do not know that IP is really odd. I am wondering if the computer is connecting to another mail server for some reason.

Sending it via their webmail interface, so no Outlook or whatever hijack. eu2.geekstorage.com has A records for 88.99.133.78, but whenever i send emails or get returns it's from a 88.99.26.79
Cpanel has always said:
"The system sends the domain “eu2.geekstorage.com” in the SMTP handshake for this domain’s email. “eu2.geekstorage.com” resolves to “88.99.133.78”, not “88.99.26.79”.
To fix this problem, contact your system administrator and request that they create a DNS “A” record for “eu2.geekstorage.com” whose value is “88.99.26.79”."

Well I suspect they didn't configure the reverse DNS correctly - it can be tricky. Is it just email hosting or also websites?
You could consider just switching your email hosting to another provider but keep your websites were they are so you don't have to move that. (assuming your doing both)
I have email hosted with hostinger titan for one of my domains - I set it up a long time ago and haven't bothered to switch to my local server for email.
But they've been rock solid on email.

It looks like they have now set the reverse DNS for 88.99.26.79 to eu2.geekstorage.com.
