    Any vmware cloud providers closing?

With Vmware cutting off resellers and Cloud Partners, has anyone spotted any Vmware Private Cloud providers shifting to other platforms or simply shutting down?

Can they not secure licences through the partners that remain?

As of now, no one knows who will get to remain a Vmware partner :/
Also, the few that were able to get quotes say pricing went up 2-3x

Oh I know, but I'm assuming that there will be SOME partners left, even if everyone's going to get shafted financially cPanel style .

I haven't heard of any partners closing in Australia but then again they are all pretty large Datacentre providers and large multi cloud providers.
I don't think VMware have ever really serviced the SME market.
Also Microsoft have been acting in a similar way in recent years as well with the NCE New Commerce Experience.
It hasn't been easy to role out and the price increases have been annoying.

What does VMWare stand to gain by choosing to get rid of most resellers?

What have the resellers who are being discontinued said publicly regarding what is going on?

Because, Broadcom. Jack up the price, as they know large and legacy businesses have the money to still pay but won't want to move to another solution.

Get rid of your SME customers and lay off most of your staff.

    Profit?

Honestly, I don't know what they have to gain by doing this but Broadcom has a history of doing exactly this to companies they purchase. Symantec was the prior example to VMWare.

Currently the future of VMWare is not clear, we may need to wait a bit to clear situation.

What are the various possible outcomes that VMware's fate might be?

Does anyone have experience moving VMware vms to other control panels? And how easy, or not, was it?

    Hello,
Not too hard to move away from VMware in some cases.
If you are hosting Linux virtual machine, there are plenty of solutions: Proxmox, KVM,...
For Windows: Hyper-V. However, your choice must be based on the workloads you will manage.

How does Hyper-V, VMware, KVM and OpenVZ compare to each other?

moving a VM to one place to another is easy... if you don't have anything special going on
But what is you have VSAN (with data encryption), NSX, Veeam etc
Then it becomes super hard to migrate over...

Yeah as I said the main VMware players down hear are either Datacentre providers or large multi cloud providers so won't be affected at all by these changes as they already charge a fortune for the solution.
VMware was never really aimed at small businesses anyway its always been aimed at larger enterprises read people with more money then sense the types that years ago would of purchised anything as long as it was Cisco or IBM replace the name with VMware and you have the type.
VMware will pretty much go the way of IBM in that it will be hosting legacy platforms that can't be moved elsewhere.

Just to give an update on this. I know we (Leaseweb) are still going to be offering VMware. They are actually increasing our partnership level. I would imagine this is the case for several other providers, as long as they are of a large enough size. I believe it is the small to medium-sized companies that may be running into some issues. They are still going to stop licensing some of their lowest end offerings, but for the big stuff like vSphere and all the goodies attached to it (HCX, NSX, etc), they should all remain available. I have no idea about any pricing changes at this time, at least on our side of things.

I think they have sold off some of their offerings that they are discontinuing as a direct VMware product. How that will work in regards to support and development, I have no idea. I'm also unsure if this means those options will be available in ways similar to how they were previously.

Well leaseweb is probably the type of customer Vmware wants to keep, not a small shop

VMware is just going to tell smaller partners to purchase through the larger ones

I had seen the same happen with Symantec. They are now like vanished from the internet space after Broadcom acquired them. Hope that doesn't happen with VMWare.
