Lots of failed PDU's and lots of crashed servers and burned devices. You are better driving out there and working on your hardware than relying on staff to help. I was there for the whole day yesterday. It was a nightmare.

I have patience, but my clients don't, they are already very upset.

it sucks but there is very little anyone can do, unless you drive out there and fix your own problems. IF!! You are lucky to find a tech to open the cabs and find a console cart to use. Literally people were fighting for the carts.

It is frustrating to be sitting waiting for responses that take hours, on webhostpython the updates have really been very slow and the responses to tickets too.

Only response webhostpython has it that they are working on it as quickly as possible.

There were dead PDUs and issues with network equipment that providers had to troubleshoot and fix/replace yesterday after the power was restored. Total blackouts like this are rough.

Also, regarding regular testing, Prime successfully transitioned to generators last month when there was a loss of utility power. Sometimes, these things just fail and don't go according to plan. I wouldn't expect a total blackout though when there's supposed to be redundant power - that's something they should look at.

The last update of webhostpython was 9 hours ago and they do not respond to tickets even if they are on a different topic than this one

Yes, delayed response on tickets. I called them multiple times with the same response that they are working as quickly possible and unfortunately there is no ETA

This sounds bad. I was looking into New York and considered ReliableSite but kept seeing them have many different issues every other few months, which put me off. Then I thought I would try Dallas again as it's usually reliable. I've used it in the past.

I wonder who those affected in this thread will switch to after these issues, or will they stay? Act of god/natural disaster is another level after all.

Outages like this are unfortunate, but they can and do happen once in a while. I think this outage alone should not be the reason to switch.

However, some server providers didn't communicate with their clients properly. It is probably not safe to keep hosting production servers with them.

It does not seem like the power outage was caused by an act of god. It was more like an ATS failure. The switch from UPS to generator power failed, triggering a total outage.

My server back online now after 42 hours downtime. How can I estimate how much percentage of the responsibility the host should take for this downtime? I know there is power outage was caused by weather but would that alone cause 42 hours downtime?

RS has better uptime on LA and FL than NY.

But i wouldn't move my data from Dallas somewhere else, for this incident. now if it happens again soon, that's a different story.

^^ This. These things happen, and unless it becomes a pattern, I'm not that worried.

I have been with WebhostPython since they started and before they were sold to a big company this past year...They should have without a doubt communicated better. I received no emails, and their social media accounts are not being updated anymore either.

Luckily they do have the live chat which helped but none of them really knew when the things would be fixed. My server was down for around 26 hours, first major downtime like this in years. I think the blame should be put mostly on the datacenter, it seems they were not ready for the technical failures that happened.

But as long as it doesn't happen again this year, I will keep my servers in Dallas.

My account is down more than 50-52 hours. Always the same default answer from their support, no ETA and no idea when anything will be back.

Last update was 6-7 hours ago

We have restored services on most of the affected systems. There are 2 servers with ongoing issues and we are working on getting them up and running.

    da77venom.stableserver.net
    ns65v.stableserver.net (Hardware failure)

I still have down servers, and the communication with WebhostPython is very poor.

Hello, KD35, apologies for any delayed communication and all the inconvenience this has caused. We strive to provide comprehensive information to all our customers. Could you please provide a ticket reference number, if available, so that I can escalate it to the team and have them specifically investigate your server?

Hello and apologies for the inconvenience. Can you share the ticket reference number, if you have it, so I can escalate the issue to the team for a focused investigation into your server?
